No coding experience needed

Build your own appjust by talking.

One prompt. Paste it into any AI chat and it sets you up with the whole workflow at your own pace: Claude Code, a live test site, your own domain and the App Store. No coding needed.

Free, about 1,300 words. Read it first

Paste it into ClaudeChatGPTGeminiCopilotor any other AI chat

How it works

Three steps. The AI does the rest.

1

Copy

One tap on the button above copies the whole prompt.

2

Paste into an AI chat

Any assistant you already use. It asks a few quick questions, then tailors the plan to you.

3

Follow along

It moves at your pace, skips what you do not need, and asks for a screenshot if something looks off.

What you end up with

The same setup this app was built with.

Everything below is in the prompt, as sensible defaults your AI adapts to you.

Claude Code writes the code

It builds, fixes and tests your app. You describe, it does.

You talk, it types

Speak your ideas with your device's microphone. Rambling is fine.

Every change saved

Your code lives on GitHub, so nothing is ever lost and every step can be undone.

A live test site

Every change goes live a minute later. You test it on your phone and send screenshots back.

Your own domain and email

A proper web address, plus a support email, which the App Store asks for.

Ultracode for big jobs

Start a message with ultracode and Claude splits the work across many helpers that check each other.

App Store, when you say

Builds only start with your yes. Small changes reach phones as quick updates instead.

Design lessons built in

Try two or three looks before picking one, test light and dark, small and large screens, and offline.

The prompt

Read it, or just copy it.

It holds no accounts, keys or personal details, and it never asks you to paste a password into a chat.

setup-prompt.txt
Help me build my own app with AI. I have little or no coding experience. Below is a workflow that works well: get me set up with it, then help me start building. Treat everything here as a sensible default, not a rulebook. Adapt it to me, skip what I do not need, and suggest better options if you know them.

HOW TO HELP ME
- Match my pace. If I am confident, move quickly and group steps together. If I seem unsure, slow down and say where to click and what I should see.
- Keep it plain and friendly, and explain any technical word the first time it comes up.
- If something is not working, ask for a screenshot rather than guessing.
- Never ask me to paste a password, API key, token or card number into the chat. Tell me where it goes instead.
- Prices and plans change, so point me to official pricing pages rather than quoting numbers.

A FEW QUICK QUESTIONS FIRST
What do I want to make (phone app, website or both), what computer and phone do I have, do I already pay for Claude, do I have a GitHub account, and is the App Store a goal? Then tailor the plan.

THE SETUP

1. Claude Code
Claude Code is the AI that writes and changes the app. It comes with a paid Claude plan (Pro or Max), not the free one; plans are at claude.com/pricing. Pro is a fine start. Max suits heavy use.

2. GitHub
A free GitHub account and a private repository for the project. It stores the code and keeps every change, so nothing is lost and anything can be undone.

3. Claude Code on the web
claude.ai/code runs in the browser with nothing to install, and the same sessions open from the Claude phone and desktop apps. Connect GitHub, pick the repository, and keep the Default environment to start. It keeps working with the laptop closed.

4. Talking instead of typing
Use built-in dictation: Windows key + H on Windows, Dictation in a Mac's keyboard settings, or the microphone on a phone keyboard. Rambling is fine; Claude copes with messy speech.

5. Working rules
Give me the STARTER MESSAGE below to paste into Claude Code first, and help me adjust it to how I like to work.

6. Ultracode for big jobs
Starting a message with the word ultracode makes Claude split a big task across helpers that work in parallel and check each other. /effort ultracode keeps it on for a session, and /effort ultracode off turns it off. It uses plan limits faster, so it suits big features, redesigns and bug hunts. On Pro, dynamic workflows may need switching on first.

7. The first version
Help me describe the app in a few sentences: who it is for, what it does, the screens that matter. For a phone app, an Expo app gives iPhone, Android and web from one codebase.

8. A live test site
A free Cloudflare account and Cloudflare Pages, so every change goes live at a web address within a minute and I can test on my phone. For Claude to publish by itself, it needs a Cloudflare API token with just the permissions required, stored in the Claude Code environment settings.

9. Domain and email
A domain connected to the site, plus free email forwarding (Cloudflare Email Routing works) for a support address. The App Store wants a support address and a privacy policy page.

10. If the app has accounts or online data
Supabase (free tier) handles sign-in and a database. Its public key can live in the app; the secret key only in environment settings.

11. If the App Store is a goal
An Apple Developer Program membership (yearly fee). For an Expo app, a free Expo account: builds run on Expo's servers with a monthly limit, code-only changes can go out as over-the-air updates instead, and TestFlight puts test builds on my phone. An App Store Connect API key, kept in environment settings, lets Claude fill in the listing and upload builds.

12. Before submitting to the App Store
Common reasons for rejection, worth checking first:
- Social sign-in (such as Google) also needs Sign in with Apple.
- Accounts must be deletable from inside the app.
- Chat or posting needs report, block and a filter for abusive words.
- Anything sent to an outside AI service needs the user's permission first.
- The App Privacy answers must match what the app collects.
- Digital purchases go through Apple's in-app purchase. A subscription shows its price, period and renewal, with Restore Purchases, Terms and Privacy links, and the store description links the Terms.
- Purchase descriptions should not name a price in one currency, and their review screenshots must be a standard iPhone screen size.
- The first in-app purchases are submitted together with an app version.
- The demo account works and the review notes match the app's wording.
- Anything the reviewer must see is in the build, since over-the-air updates only apply from the second launch.

HOW IT ALL CONNECTS
I talk to Claude Code. It changes the code, saves to GitHub, publishes the test site, and keeps notes. I test on my phone and reply with what I see. Phone builds happen when I say so.

STARTER MESSAGE FOR CLAUDE CODE (give it to me in a copy box, then help me tweak it)

You are my build partner on this app. I describe what I want; you build it, test it, and tell me what changed. Save these working notes as CLAUDE.md so future sessions follow them, and update them as we learn what works.

How we work
- Keep replies short and plain. Explain things for a beginner when needed.
- Make changes yourself rather than giving me code to edit by hand. Anything I need to copy goes in a code block.
- Use your judgement on small things. Check with me on real choices, and before anything that costs money or cannot be undone.
- Keep going until a task is fully done rather than stopping halfway to report.
- Commit and push at sensible checkpoints.
- Never put passwords, keys or tokens in files or chat. They belong in the environment settings.

Notes to keep
- NOTES.md: a short dated log of what changed and what is open.
- ROADMAP.md: ideas and plans. When I share an idea without asking you to build it, add it here.
- RELEASE.md: how to release, plus lessons from each release.

Checking work
- Run the checks and tests, then look at the actual result before saying something works.
- Check small and large screens, and light and dark themes if there are both.

Design lessons that paid off
- For real design choices, try two or three versions on the web first and let me pick, then build the chosen one everywhere.
- Test layouts with realistic data at different sizes (1, 12, 143; short and long names).
- Keep colours, fonts and spacing in shared design tokens.
- Give every screen a good empty, loading and offline state.
- Use one name for each thing everywhere.
- Confirm destructive actions, and remember where people were (scroll position, drafts).
- Keep tap targets comfortably large, and keep the phone and web versions consistent.

Releases
- Ask before app store builds, since they can be limited per month. Prefer over-the-air updates for code-only changes.
- Before an App Store submission, check the RELEASE.md checklist.

Prices and plans change, so the prompt sends you to each company's own pricing page rather than quoting numbers. You will need a paid Claude plan for Claude Code, and an Apple Developer membership only if you want the App Store.
